5CTCA Votes Coach Tim Seaman as 2022 XC Coach of the Year!

1/10/2023

The associate governing body for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), the California Community Colleges Cross Country and Track Coaches Association (5CTCA) held their annual executive board meeting in which the '2022 Cross Country Men's and Women's Head and Assistant Coaches of the Year' award nominations are reviewed and voted. In the final award determination of the evening's agenda, the 2022 Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, Cuyamaca's own Head Men's Cross Country coach, Tim Seaman came out as the clear winner in what turned out to be a star studded pool of nominees.

The Cuyamaca Coyotes men's cross country team topped of an amazing year by finishing 2nd at Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, 7th at the SoCal Regional Championships and raced to the school's highest recorded finish at the California State Championship at the historic Woodward Park in Fresno, California, finishing 6th. Coach Seaman's leadership and team's ascension into the top-10 finishers was noted by the voting board. In-coming 5CTCA President, Orange Coast College Head Track & Field Coach (and former Cuyamaca coach) Jennifer Williams commented, "What is impressive about Coach Tim's accomplishment, is (Tim) raising his team into the top-10 position, where Cuyamaca College has the smallest student population of those teams in the Top-10 and managed to compete toe-to-toe with the best. Well done!"

Coach Seaman ran away with the most votes amongst a 'whos-who' of traditional and expected nominations. The Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year pool of nominees included, Sean Ricketts (SD Mesa), Jim McCarron (Riverside), Philip Dunn (SD City), Chris Zepeda (Hartnell), Daniel Ozan (Mt. Sac), Pam Kelly (Bakersfield), Rick Anderson (American River) and Tracey Kephart (Moorpark).

Cuyamaca College congratulates Coach Tim Seaman and the Cuyamaca Men's Cross Country team on an outstanding season and making us all proud! Go Coyotes!
