Coyote Trio Soar at State

Sophomore sprint sensation Amaree Berry, with freshman Elijah Jordan and AZ Simpson each qualified for the 2023 3C2A State Track & Field Championships held at Modesto Junior College. Amaree, in the men's 400m entered the meet as the PCAC champion and the fourth fastest mark for the year. Elijah Jordam continued his phenomenal season qualifying to the state meet by consistently rising to the occasion and placing amongst the top runners in each of the qualifying championships. Basketball star Arthur 'AZ' Simpson joined the Coyote pack late in the season but quickly let the coaching staff know his abilities. AZ dominated in the long jump and also placing high in rounds. 

Saturday May 20th, each athlete enter the event with the loftiest of goals and competed admirably. Amaree finished the highest finisher of the three with a fourth place finish with a time of 48.29 for the quarter mile sprint. Elijah continue to improve but ran out of competitions for the season. His tenth place finish showed his potential talents for the 3000m Steeple event, as he continue to better his season best each run. AZ finished ninth with a leap of 6.75m (22' 1.75") and one spot off the podium.  While the results may have fallen short of each athlete's season best, the future is bright for each as they continue to learn and perfect their skills in each event.
