Coyotes outmaneuver Desert Warrior

Rancho San Diego

Coach Brian Hiatt-Aleu has not been satisfied with the team's ability to shoot outside the box and score. This week, as they prepared for the team from central valley, the Imperial Valley College Desert Warriors, Coach Hiatt-Aleu demonstrated and drilled the team on how to properly strike balls from outside the box. The training session paid dividend. The Coyotes started quick against the Desert Warriors and before the first have concluded had run the score up 6-1. The team (Coyotes) played loose and more fluidly. They kept the ball moving and maintained possession for the majority of the game which gave the strikers amble opportunities to test the newly learned skills.

Leading the scores with three goal on the day was #5 Ian Garcia. Chavez positioned himself brilliantly to give him the opportunity to touch the back of the net. Closely behind with two goals, Marco Santillan battled and was constantly in the mix. His superb footwork and drives to the goal set him up for multiple challenges and was able to capitalize. Adan Rios scored the final goal of the first half with a powerful penalty kick catching the IVC goal keeper guessing the wrong way. The closing scorer for the Coyotes came in the second half on another penalty kick from Josue Franco. Franco explode his shot pass the Desert Warrior goal keep with little chance and opportunity to contest the blistering shot.

Next game, scheduled October 10th, Tuesday against the Palomar Comets at home. Kick-off time 3:15pm.

Go Coyotes!
