Coach Ratto gears for exciting new season

Cuyamaca News Release May '23

Coach Ratto is entering her first off-season with Cuyamaca Volleyball and the first off-season we have had in many years. "As a developing program, it is important to put in the work outside of the fall to be successful and these girls have been doing a really great job in the gym, weight room AND classroom".  Coach Ratto went on to describe how they have been practicing 2-3 times a week and incorporating sport psychology, weights, plyometrics, and nutrition into their training regimen. "I think it is important to develop the complete student athlete and foster an environment where they can be successful on many fronts. The skills the athletes are learning today are going to help them throughout their lives, careers, and future endeavors".

Coach Ratto has some exciting things in store for the 2023 Cuyamaca Women's Volleyball team!  Currently we have five returning athletes from last year: Outside Hitter Izzy, Middles Heather and Manar, Right Side Kierrah, and Setter and Captain Erin.  During the spring season, they were joined by five other players:  Jaden (OH), Chelsea (S), Jameila (M), Aareanna (M), and Dakee (L).  In the fall, The team will be joined by 6-8 new players (see the additional articles for individual player announcements).

"The Cuyamaca 2023 season started the day after our last game.  From recruiting, to training, to summer workout package, the girls are ready to put in the work. I am looking forward to coaching these girls next season and my plans moving forward are to use my network of coaches, athletes, and contacts to build Cuyamaca Volleyball into a state-recognized program".
