Men's Golf Start Season Swinging

The Cuyamaca Men's Golf Team opened its 2023 season campaign on February 15th at the Eagle Classic, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College. The tournement was held at the beautiful Soboba Springs Country club in Hemet, California. Saddleback College took top honors on the day with the Coyotes finishing 5th posting a team score of 397. In collegiate golf, six players travel and play, with top five scores counting toward the team total. Nicholas Vila led the Coyotes in scoring with a 4 over par 76.

One week later, the Coyotes hosted the Cuyamaca Classic at their home course, Cottonwood Golf course, in . The Cuyamaca men finished a respectable third under stormy conditions posting a total team score of 390 in the fridged conditions. Trent Fitzherald and Nicholas Vila, led the Coyotes in scoring. Both men shot 2 over par (74) for the round.

On February 7, 2023 - the Coyotes played in Riverside City College's Invitational at Victoria CC, with small greens and narrow fairways. The Coyotes posted a team score good enough to finish 4th overall of the sixteen teams entered. This event boasted a very strong field which represented a preview of the SoCal Regional Championships to be held in May. Eduardo Espinosa led the Coyotes with a 1 over par 73.

Following these three pre-season events, the Coyotes opened their 2023 regular season competition hosted by Cypress College in Seal Beach, California at the Navy Golf course. The team continued to play solid golf by tying the 2022 OEC conference championsh, Saddleback College. Unfortunately, the Coyotes lost in the tie breaker, by matching the high score of each team. Trent Fitzgerald led the Coyotes i scoring with a one under par 71.

On March 13th, the team travelled to Mission VIejo to play at Saddleback college's home course, Arroyo Trabuco. Saddleback walked away with the trophy with the Cuyamaca Coyotes finishing 2nd. Kyle Lague was medalist for Cuyamaca, shooting a 3 over par 75.

The tournement scheduled for March 15th, fell victim to the foul weather. However, a rescheduled match at Los Serranos GC in Chino Hills has been slotted for April 5th.

Next up, March 22nd, El Camino College will host at Los Verdes CC. Saddleback continued their winning strike with a score 369 with Cuyamaca's men finishing 2nd with a team score of 375. Trent Fitzgerald for the third time this season led the Coyotes with an even par 72.
