ROLL TO SUCCESS PUT ON SHOW

ROLL TO SUCCESS PUT ON SHOW

For immediate release:

The San Diego chapter of "Roll to Success" wheelchair basketball returned to Cuyamaca from a five year hiatus. The men and women of the local wheelchair basketball club demonstrated their skills on the court and invited members of the men's and women's basketball teams to have a go. The event was co-sponsored by Cuyamaca College's Disabled Students Program Services (DSPS). President Dr. Jessica Robinson opened the event and jumped on the microphone to give 'play by play' and informative commentary to the crowd of 100 plus, students, staff and administrators.

During the course of an hour, Cuyamaca intercollegiate team players subbed in every four minutes to try their skills at navigating the floor and taking shots from the specialized chairs designed for wheelchair basketball. Both men and women, gave it the 'ole college try' but realized its not that easy. However, as the games progressed, the Coyotes skills started to show. The event capped with a five minute game by the 'Silverbacks' wheelchair team with one Cuyamaca player per side to demonstrate the pace of a real game and what a thrill it was to see.

The event ended with a team photo, a hearty lunch, and music for all. We hope to see them (Roll to Success) back next year. Go Coyotes, Go Silverbacks!
