Coyotes open Christmas Tourney with win over Olympians

Rancho San Diego,

Cuyamaca Men's Basketball annual Christmas Tournament began with a win over cross-town rival San Diego Mesa College. The Coyotes railed back from a 16-point deficit at the half to beat the Olympians 67 to 64. Cuyamaca's top scorer Johnathan Duley, put up 21 points and continues to have the hot hand for the Coyotes. Teammates Nico Cervantes, Xavier Rubio and Arthur Simpson combined to contribute 33 points.

Down by 16 at the half, Coach Rob Wojtkowski fired up his men up as they turned up the pressure on the Olympians and kept the Mesa team on their heels with not much to answer. The Coyotes over the Olympians win was a great start to the tournament, but most importantly, a great look at conference play now having taken down two conference teams.

Next team the Coyotes to meet in the Christmas tournament, the Antelope Valley College Marauders. Friday game time, 4pm.
