The Cuyamaca women's golf team got a career performance from Stephanie Ksiazek, as they finished just one stroke behind Santa Barbara Community College at the Southern California Regional.
Ksiazek posted a team-best 81 at the Temecula Creek Inn course on the first day of competition. And the freshman topped that mark on day two, posting an 80 for a new career low. Her two-round total of 161 put her in 7th place on the individual leaderboard.
After an opening round total of 337, the Coyotes trailed Santa Barbara by 7 strokes. They lowered their second-round score by 12 shots, with Leanna Mena's 79 leading the way. That left them with a grand total of 662, one more than the Vaqueros for the second straight year.
Next stop for the Coyotes is the state tournament in Morro Bay. The team leaves on Saturday morning, and tees off for Round 1 on Sunday.
