The Cuyamaca track & field teams capped off the 2016 season with a half dozen athletes placing in the state championships held at San Diego Mesa College.
Freshman Alex Templeton reached the highest on the medal stand for the Coyotes, finishing in a tie for second in the high jump with a leap of 2.07m.

Jovann Letuli added a 10th place finish in the discus (43.76m), as the Coyote men earned the 17th overall slot (highest among all PCAC schools).
For the women, Briana Gaipa and Sabrina Dozier both placed in the hammer. Gaipa came in 5th with a throw of 47.44m, while Dozier's 40.35m effort was good for 12th.
Dozier also collected a 12th place finish in the doscus, with a mark of 35.38m.
In the combined standings, the Coyote men and women placed 26th in the state, again the top rank among all PCAC schools.
