Sam comes to Cuyamaca College with the experience of working at the Division I, community college, and high school levels of sports. She is a board certified Athletic Trainer and is also certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Sam is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Far West Athletic Trainers Association, California Athletic Trainers Association, and California Community College Athletic Trainers Association.
Sam began her athletic training career as an athletic training student at Moorpark College where she worked with their Athletics department while earning her Associates of Arts in Kinesiology. She then transferred into San Diego State’s Athletic Training Program in which she completed her clinical hours at the University of California San Diego, Southwestern College, and the University of San Diego. Shortly after receiving her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training in 2022, Sam started her professional career as a certified athletic trainer at Southwestern College assisting with all 17 of their athletic programs. She primarily worked with the football and baseball programs, but aided with cross country, men and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men and women’s water polo, track and field, swim and dive, and softball. In her free time, she would assist the University of San Diego with their football practices and men and women’s tennis matches, or would help with game coverage for local high schools such as Ramona High School, San Marcos High School, and Mission Hills High School. Right before coming to the Coyotes, Sam acted as an interim assistant athletic trainer for the University of San Diego’s football program for their 2024 spring season.
Sam has a passion for Sports Medicine. She loves educating and teaching new students in the Athletic Training profession and thrives on returning athletes back to competition after injury or illness as timely and as safely as possible.
