
Fullerton - The No. 19 seed Cuyamaca College Coyotes fell to the No. 3 seeded Fullerton Hornets in second round play of the 2022 Men's Regional Playoffs with a score of 2-1. The loss to ends a great season by the Coyotes.
The first half was a wash as both teams ended it with a scoreless tie. Although the Fullerton offense spent most of its time on the Cuyamaca end of the field it was unable to convert.
The game took a positive turn for FC early in the second half when their striker knocked the ball into the back of the net from 15-yards out giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead around the 50-minute mark.
Ten minutes later, the Hornets struck again on an athletic goal from 20-yards narrowly averted by the Coyotes goalie. The Hornets would hold a 2-0 lead with time running out for Cuyamaca.
Fullerton's defense managed to hold off a late surging Coyote pack, but time was not on Cuyamaca's side as the clock would whine down.
Holding a strong 2-0 lead, the FC defense did its best to preserve the victory even with a late Cuyamaca goal with two minutes left in the match.
