Two years ago, the East Los Angeles Huskies were loved an embraced by the nation as the team led by Head Coach John Mosley became media darlings from the exposure of the hit Netflix series Last Chance U: Basketball.

This year, the team is not the same. They do not possess the caliber of athlete that wore the colors during the year shorten by COVID and the following year teams had to rebuild once intercollegiate competition resumed.

The Coyotes battled the Huskies point for point and never showed any fear or awe in the face of the heralded team from Los Angeles. The Coyotes would eventually fall to the Huskies 82 to 68, but the score fails to enlighten the brilliant play by the men in white and blue (Cuyamaca). With minutes left in the game, the Coyotes rallied to position themselves 8 points down. However, mental errors and questionable officiating took the momentum away in the final minutes as the Huskies down the Coyotes in the second of three games.
