The Coyotes opened the Irvine Valley Tournament against Canyons. The Coyotes settled for quick and sometimes bad shots (37% FG) and allowed Canyons easy baskets at the high post area (52% FG). Cuyamaca lost 74-60, with only two players in double figures:  Jon Irving (13 pts) and Spencer Smith (11 pts).
