As the Athletic Eligibility Advisor for Cuyamaca College, it is Emmanuel Corvera’s job to help guide students in the process of beginning their athletic journey at the 2-year level in preparation to move on to 4-year universities.

As a Cuyamaca alumni himself, Emmanuel understands the process and potential of beginning at the community college level while creating plans to move on to higher education. Emmanuel graduated from the Grossmont-Cuyamaca District with an A.A in History, transferred to San Diego State University where he completed a B.A in History, and went on to finish an M.A in United States History online at American Public University (West Virginia).

It is this educational foundation that led Emmanuel to pursue a professional career in Track & Field as a 20km Racewalker. He has represented Team USA on 8 different occasions and has competed in 11 Different Countries. In 2016 he placed 4th at the Olympic Trials and in 2017 he achieved his first 20km US national title finishing in a time of 1:26:35. This is walking at an approximate pace of 6:59 per mile for a total of 12.4 Miles.  In 2021 he bettered his position at the Olympic Trials for Tokyo, finishing 3rd in Springfield Oregon.  Unfortunately Emmanuel did not go to the Tokyo Olympics, but he hopes to train for the Paris 2024 team and the L.A 2028 Team.

Emmanuel is a testament to what Cuyamaca College is capable of achieving.  With a strong team of leadership at Cuyamaca he was able to excel in both his education and athletics, and it is now his hope to pass on his knowledge to other students who have dreams and aspirations to do the same. Emmanuel is well versed in navigating the CCCAA Constitution and its bylaws that explain the requirements students must meet in order to activate eligibility and continue remaining eligible at the 2-year level and beyond.

If there is ever a question that students need answered, he is capable of either finding an answer, or helping to guide students to the correct people who can. Please feel free to reach out to him by phone or email, although email is his preferred method of contact.
