SKATING BY THE COYOTES

The Hornets hosted their first night game of the season on Friday night and had great success with a 5-1 victory over visiting Cuyamaca College.

Three FC goals were scored in the first half with Brian Aragon striking first with an unassisted goal at the 17:50 mark. Cesar Marquez passed the ball to Hayden Kenny for the second goal in the 32nd minute. Evan Courtney locked down his second goal of the season before halftime.

Heading into the third quarter, Fullerton held an impressive 3-0 lead, but the scoring did not end there. Team goal leader Misael Gonzalez switched it up assisting Cesar Marquez for his goal in the 55th minute.

Devin Villegas got in on the action late in the game (78:51) with a goal to put the Hornets up 5-0. The assist was delivered by Kyle Sherman.

Cuyamaca snuck in a goal in the 80th minute on a shot by Jorge Maleno.

Hornet goalie Ryan Moreno-Rojas was had 4 saves with only a goal against for the night.

Up Next: FC (7-1 overall) will begin Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday, September 26th when they hit the road against Orange Coast College.

Prior to the game, longtime ethnic studies professor Gerry Padilla (retired) celebrated his 80th birthday with both the soccer and football teams. Happy birthday Gerry!
