KNIGHTS WIN 8TH STRAIGHT, 91-53, OVER CUYAMACA
The SDCC men's basketball team, ranked No. 8 in the state, continued its dominance over the the PCAC South with a resounding 91-53 home victory over Cuyamaca. The Knights have now won 14 consecutive conference games dating back to last season when they went 8-0.

Friday's rout of Cuyamaca was City's eighth straight win and its 10th in the last 11 games. The Knights improved to 22-5 overall and 6-0 in the PCAC South. They have won the six conference games by an average of 23 points.
Four Knights scored in double figures against Cuyamaca, including Romario Wilson who came off the bench to lead City with 13 points in 19 minutes of action. Robert McCoy and Robert Taylor scored 11 points a piece, also off the bench, and starter Jaire Roberts added 11 points as well.
The Knights got off to a nice start and took a 16-6 lead after 5:26 of play, but Cuyamaca responded with a 15-4 run to take a 21-20 lead with 9:15 remaining in the first half. City countered with a 20-1 surge over the next five minutes to take a 40-22 lead and went into the halftime break with a 44-25 lead.
City's defense was the biggest factor in the first half as they forced Cuyamaca in 19 turnovers which led to 23 points for the Knights. Cuyamaca's turnovers also helped the Knights to a 12-0 fast break advantage in the first period.
The Knights continued to pour it on in the second half as they outscored the Coyotes, 22-2, in the opening three minutes to take a commanding 56-27 lead.
Cuyamaca ended up with 29 turnovers with led to 38 points for the Knights.
The Knights outscored Cuyamaca, 37-0, on fast break points and 50-18 on points in the paint.
City shot 54.2 percent from the field, while holding Cuyamaca to 30.5 percent. It's the ninth time so far this season that the Knights have shot over 50 percent.
The Knights will play three of their last four games on the road beginning with Grossmont on Wednesday, February 8 at 5:00 p.m. A win on Wednesday will clinch at least a share of the PCAC South championship, City's second in as many years.
Their final home game will be on Friday, February 10 vs. Southwestern at 7:00 p.m. City will then wrap up the conference season with road games at Imperial Valley on February 15 and at Mesa on February 17.
