Men's basketball team bounces back with win at Cuyamaca

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team, which dropped its Orange Empire Conference opening game on Tuesday at home against Orange Coast, responded with a 72-60 nonconference road win at Cuyamaca on Thursday.

IVC moved its record to 9-4 overall.

The Lasers were led by sophomore forward Jesse Stines. He finished with a team-high 24 points and added seven rebounds, one block and two assists.

It was his seventh-straight game scoring in double figures. He is averaging 13 points a game on the season.

Freshman guard Ammon Allan also added 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists and wing Marcus Carter had 15 points and two steals for Irvine Valley. 

Sophomore guards David Ogunlade and Roman Swizek each contributed four points for IVC. Ogunlade also had three rebounds and three assists.

Irvine Valley will have a fun night on Dec. 29 when it plays its alumni game at 5 p.m.
