On a day that Puente students were honored at the contest, the MiraCosta men's soccer team also had an important game to play.  The Spartans entered the game with Cuyamaca College fighting for placement in the power point system that awards CCCAA state playoff bids.  MiraCosta, despite giving up the first goal, scored two and secured the win that keeps them in range of potentially earning a playoff spot.

MiraCosta's goals were scored by Matt Short (75th minute) and Rafael Carmeiro (89th minute). The first goal was assisted by Colin Baehman and the second was assisted by Dagoberto Dominguez

Goalkeeper Eric Barajas steadied the defense and made a total of four saves to help secure the win. The Spartans improve to 5-8-6 overall but with the stregnth of their schedule considered are still within striking distance of the CCCAA state playoffs with just two games left on their schedule.  MiraCosta will travel to College of the Desert on Tuesday and to San Bernardino Valley College on Friday to finish up their schedule of conference games.
