Jule's Story

Coming into her freshman year on the Cuyamaca women's golf team, Jule Loibl didn't exactly have an extended preseason to get acquainted with her new surroundings.

"I came in right when the season was starting," says Jule, who settled on Cuyamaca after a lengthy process of sorting through her options for this fall. "I wasn't there for summer tournaments, summer practices. It was different, not knowing much about the team and having a match basically the next day."

Based on the results so far, Jule and her teammates have become fast friends on the course.

The Coyotes hosted their fellow PCAC schools at Sycuan Golf Course on Monday, and they came away with their fourth consecutive first-place finish. Jule carded an 82, part of what she described as a "rough day for the whole team."

When a "rough day" for your team means that you still win by about 20 strokes...things are going pretty well.

"I'm very happy with the performance from all of us right now," says Jule, "how we're working to get better and pushing each other."

Jule points to these words from Proverbs 3:5-6, which seem especially appropriate for a golfer: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Her swing has certainly been straight and true, earning her two medalist finishes, including a win at Twin Oaks Golf Course – "definitely a confidence booster for me as a freshman," says Jule.

Jule plans to major in kinesiology, with the goal of coaching either basketball or golf.
