They say that timing is one of the most important things for a golfer to master.

 

Emily Weber certainly picked a good time to shoot the best round of her life, as her 79 propelled the Cuyamaca women's golf team to a conference-clinching win at Menifee Lakes Country Club.

 

"Everything was working in my favor that day," says Emily.

 

Things really heated up on her second shot at the par-4 second hole. From 130 yards out, Emily laced an 8-iron to just three feet away for an easy birdie.

 

Outside of Emily's matchup, things were not going quite as smoothly for the Coyotes. They found themselves trailing College of the Desert by 15 strokes.

 

"I had no idea what the other scores were," she says. "I just knew I had to play my best. When I came in with my score, I knew I was probably in the top five."

 

Emily finished in fourth place, to be precise, with a 22-stroke advantage over her COD opponent -- more than enough to give the Coyotes the win and secure the PCAC title.

 

Back at the start of the season, Emily faced some typical freshman jitters. But reuniting with West Hills teammate Kenna Caricato helped ease the transition.

 

"It is really fun to play with her again," she says. "We try not to be too serious. When you're playing a sport in college, you have to take it seriously. But when we're out there on the course, we're always making each other laugh."
